Up to 2 feet (60 cm) of snow expected at Mt Rainier by Sunday

This is at 12,750 feet. I don’t know how unusual this much snow is at this time of year.

Mt. Rainier is located in Washington state about 58 miles (94 km) southeast of Seattle.

  • Today – Snow showers. High near 30. South southwest wind 14 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.
  • Tonight – Snow showers. Low around 18. Windy, with a west southwest wind 25 to 30 mph decreasing to 16 to 21 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 48 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
  • Saturday – Snow showers. High near 28. Southwest wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.
  • Saturday Night – A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17. Breezy, with a west southwest wind 18 to 23 mph decreasing to 11 to 16 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 37 mph. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
  • Sunday – A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 32. West wind 5 to 9 mph becoming calm in the morning. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
  • Sunday Night – A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 11pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 25. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible
