“VICTORIA was transformed into a winter wonderland as icy temperatures caused freak snowfall around the state,” says the Herald Sun.
Victoria was dusted with the most widespread snowfall in more than 25 years.
Freak snowfall has also been seen just kilometres from the beach in Lorne, into the Otways, and across the Macedon Ranges and Grampians.
This includes Mt Macedon, Kyneton, Woodend and Trentham in Melbourne’s northwest, Mt William in the Grampians, Pomonal near Ararat, and, bizarrely, as mentioned above, in the beach town Lorne.
Meanwhile, wild weather in Tasmania over the past few days has produced the most snow for Hobart’s Mt Wellington this season.
Snow was expected in areas around the 200-metre level this morning, which includes some of Hobart’s higher outlying suburbs like Mount Nelson, Ferntree and West Hobart.
