Breaking 100-year-old records.
“Sioux Falls received 2.9 inches of snow Thursday, a new record for April 18,” says this article in the Argus Leader. The previous record was in 1978 with 0.6 inches. Thursday’s high in Sioux Falls was 32, 2 degrees colder than a previous high of 34 in 1966.
Huron also broke its previous coldest high temp, which was 35 in 1966. On Thursday, Huron’s high was 33. Huron’s record snowfall of 1.8 inches, set in 1995, was topped Thursday by 3.3 inches.
Breaking 100-year-old records
Sioux City, Iowa, tied its coldest high temp of 35 in 1910, but broke its snowfall record of .6 inches set in 1907 with 4.7 inches recorded Thursday.
Mitchell also a new record of snowfall for the April 18. A previous record of 2 inches set in 1910 was exceeded by the 3.3 inches Thursday.
