Up to 9 inches more snow expected overnight
April’s string of unusually heavy spring storms continued Monday, dumping several inches of snow on Boulder, Colorado.
The National Weather Service measured 5.4 inches in south Boulder at 9 p.m. Monday, with another 5 to 9 inches of snow expected overnight, according to meteorologist Joel Gratz.
Before Monday, Boulder had already received 35 inches of April snow, following nearly 23 inches of snow in March. Average snowfall for April in Boulder is 12.5 inches, and the record for the month is 44 inches, set in 1957.
Unseasonably cold
The city also has had some unseasonably cold days this month, hitting a record low of 10 degrees on April 18.
Longmont was set to hit its highest April snow totals since 1977.
The weather service estimated a snowfall of 1 to 2 inches for Longmont on Monday, with another 2 to 4 overnight.
Tuesday’s forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with a 60 percent chance of snow.
