Record-Breaking Spring in the Northland!

“The spring of 2013 will be long remembered as cold and VERY snowy in the northland,” says NOAA. ”Shatters” old records.

“Many new snowfall and temperatures records have been set in the past few weeks. A few of these records set at Duluth, MN include:

  • Snowiest month in recorded history (previous record 50.1″ in November 1991)
  • Snowiest April in recorded history of 51 inches (previous record 31.6″ in 1950). This shatters the old record !!
  • Latest occurrence of 20″ inches of snow on the ground (previous record April 15th, 1950 & 1975)
  • As of April 23rd, this year is ranked #3 for the snowiest years since snowfall records began. The number one spot is held by 1995-1996 with a total of 135.4 inches.
  • Snowiest Feb/March/April in recorded history of 95.7 inches, also shattering the old record of 68.5 inches.
