Heavy Snowfall in Kyoto

Kyoto experienced heavy snowfall during the first days of 2015, with more than 40 cm (16 inches) of snow still piled up in some areas of the prefecture as of Monday.

The weather has left the ancient capital’s historic streets and temples under a blanket of snow.
