Maybe yes. Maybe no. Storm may unload heavy snow from Long Island to Eastern New England. Then again, it may not.
A couple of new storm systems are ramping up, with forecasts calling for mainly light snowfall accumulations from the High Plains into the Midwest.
But whether the Northeast and New England will see heavy snow depends on which computer forecast model you believe.
As winter weather expert Tom Niziol explains, “The model solutions vary greatly at this point and there is still a lot of uncertainty to the exact track and strength of the system.”
The European model calls for significant snow over parts of the Northeast (New England, in particular) Thursday into Friday.
AccuWeather’s Meteorologist Ben Noll thinks much of the Northeast could see 1-3 inches of snow, with 3-6 inches along a small corridor from eastern Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.
This would mean several inches of snow for cities like Providence, Rhode Island, Boston and Portland, Maine.
The less likely scenario takes the storm out into the Atlantic. Instead of curving back into southern New England, the storm will continue out to sea.
