Blizzard warning in effect for:
Cartwright to Black Tickle, Eagle River, Hopedale and vicinity, Norman Bay to Lodge Bay, Postville – Makkovik, Red Bay to L’Anse-au-Clair, Rigolet and vicinity and Upper Lake Melville regions.
Snow at times heavy will spread northward through tonight. Total snowfall accumulations of 20 to 55 centimetres (7.9″ to 21.7″) are expected with the highest amounts falling in the southeast…. The snow, combined with strong winds and cold temperatures will result in near-zero visibilities and white-out conditions which will persist into Monday night.
Travel is expected to be extremely hazardous due to reduced visibility. Road closures are possible. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
Blizzard warnings for the Bay of Exploits, Buchans and the interior, Deer Lake – Humber Valley, Grand Falls-Windsor and vicinity, Green Bay – White Bay, Northern Peninsula East and Port Saunders and the Straits regions.
“Snow, at times heavy with strengthening easterly winds will create blizzard conditions with near zero visibility. Gusts are forecast to reach up to 110 km/h (68.4 mph) along parts of the coast and total snowfall accumulations will range from 10 to 20 centimetres (3.9″ to 7.9″) in central to as much as 40 centimetres (15.7″) in the north….

Blizzard conditions with gusty winds and visibility frequently near zero in snow and blowing snow are expected or occurring…. 15 to 40 centimetres (5.9″ to 15.7″) of snow are expected over these regions. Visibilities will be reduced to zero in blowing snow, making driving conditions very difficult.
Travel is expected to be extremely hazardous due to reduced visibility. Road closures are possible.

“A low pressure system is tracking across western Hudson Bay and intensifying. In the wake of this low, northwest winds will strengthen to 50 gusting to 70 km/h (31.1 to 43.5 mph) Monday morning causing frequent visibilities near zero in blowing snow leading to blizzard conditions…. The blizzard is expected to persist through Tuesday and until Wednesday morning.”
