1 April 2015 – (Xinhua/Wang Fei) – The snowfall hit Urumqi, capital of northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on Wednesday morning.
From 10 o’clock yesterday morning, the sky began to snow in Urumqi, and as as of press time had been falling more than 30 hours, accumulating more than 20 cm (8 inches) of snow or more.
At 9:50, the Urumqi Municipal Meteorological Observatory issued a Blizzard Blue warning.
The city’s minimum temperature dropped to minus 8 ℃.
Urumqi Nanshan and the surrounding villages already have willow buds and apricot blooms, but suddenly, over night, winter season is back.
