7 Apr 2015 – The surprise storm brought an inch of wet snow to Spokane International Airport by 11 a.m. Monday. It left a layer of wet snow covering lawns, trees, shrubs and April’s earliest flowers.
The measurement broke a 40-year-old daily snowfall record for April 6 in Spokane. The previous record was 0.7 inches of snow set in 1975.
Varying amounts fell in other parts of the region, including 3 inches in Kootenai County 10 miles south of Coeur d’Alene.

Snowfall after Easter is often called “unseasonal”, “surprising” and “an unusual event that doesn’t really have an explanation,” says Argiris. “However there certainly is an explanation: we are heading towards a new Mini Ice Age. If you keep that in mind, this kind of late snowfall is neither unseasonal, surprising or unusual. We’ll just have to get used to it.”
