MetService has issued severe weather warnings for parts of New Zealand, with heavy snow and rain on the way.
23 May 2015 – Brace yourselves: a wintry blast is on its way.
Farmers in the lower South Island are being warned to move stock, with heavy snow likely on Sunday and Monday.
The white stuff is likely to fall down to sea level, with significant accumulations above 200m for parts of Fiordland, Southland and Otago.
The heaviest snow is expected on Sunday evening and Monday morning, when 10cm to 15cm (4 – 6 inches) could accumulate in a six-hour period.
It will probably disrupt traffic and make driving conditions hazardous. Warnings are in place for the Lindis Pass and Milford Road.
