23 Jul 2015 – Due to strong and continuous seismic signals, an Orange alert (3 of 4) for the submarine volcano Kick’em Jenny has been issued by the Seismic Research Center (SRC) of the University of the West Indies.
Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago are particularly on alert as eruption may begin with less than 24 hours notice.
An eruption, or increased activity, is particularly dangerous for marine vessels, since the gases released from the volcano can lower water density and cause sinkage. Therefore, all shipping should stay 1.5 km (0.93 miles), and non-essential shipping should stay 5 km (3.10 miles) from the summit of Kick’em Jenny.
Kick ’em Jenny is an historically active underwater volcano lying eight km (5 miles) off the north shore of Grenada. It rises 1, 300 m (0.8 miles) from the sea floor.

Numerous eruptions have occurred at Kick ’em Jenny since 1939, when an eruption cloud rose 275 m (0.17 miles) above the sea surface.
