12 Aug 2015 –  Meanwhile, 2,000 vehicles, interprovincial buses, trucks and minivans, were stranded by the snowfall in Arequipa – Puno.

Passengers had to spend the night inside vehicles and criticized the authorities have not sent heavy machinery to clear the roads.

From 07:30 hours today, the vehicles began to advance slowly, as the sun could melt the snow blocking the road.

Even worse, some 450,000 camels (alpacas) were at risk in the province because their forage was covered by snow, said Donato Mamani, head of Civil Defense of the Municipality of Caylloma.
