Iran – Heavy snowfall cuts off 50 mountain villages

Snow now up to 75 cm (2½ ft) deep in mountain areas in the Salmas region in Iran, near the Turkish border.  And winter has just begun.

Snow has blocked the 50 villages of Urmia, Salmas mountain.

In an interview with an IRNA reporter on Thursday evening, Mystic Khdrlv said that snow in mountain areas is 30 to 75 cm deep, and the Department of Urban Development is trying to open roads.

The Governor of Salmas warned that drivers should carry safety equipment and refrain from unnecessary trips.

Ali Ibrahim Oghli temper Disaster Management Coordinating Council said that traffic to Qvrdyk, Hmzyan and Gharetapeh would not be possible without chains.

According to the Bureau temper Hvashnashy height 20 cm of snow in the city and at altitudes of more than 30 cm.

Snow also blanketed the city of Khoy in West Azerbaijan, where traffic in the axis is only possible with chains.
