Wednesday’s heavy, wet snow fell on power lines and tree branches, knocking out power to more than 30,000 homes and businesses in Quebec.
The Montérégie region was hit the hardest, where about 20,000 clients were left in the dark.
Hydro Québec said it was not clear how long it would take to restore power.
Montreal was blanketed with about 6 inches (16 cm) of snow on Wednesday, with forecasts calling for another 1½ inches (4 cm) Thursday.
Quebec City was preparing for up to 4½ inches (12 cm) of snow during the day and overnight.
How’s that global warmin’ workin’ for ya, Québec?
