12 Jan 2016 – On Tuesday, heavy snowfall began in the Smolensk and Bryansk regions, in St. Petersburg, the Leningrad, Novgorod and Pskov regions, in Moscow and the Moscow region. In Nizhny Novgorod, because of the heavy snowfall has introduced state of emergency.
All regions of the Federal District are in a state of high alert.

Heavy snowfall and strong winds have hit the Russian capital, slowing traffic and causing numerous flight delays.
The snowstorm has strained the resources of municipal services, which deployed thousands of snowplows and trucks to clear the streets.
Russian news reports said that dozens of flights at Moscow airports were cancelled or delayed.
