5 Feb 2016 – After the heavy snowfall overnight, “snow ploughs will not be sent out until the weather improves.”
Photgrapher Páll Stefánsson is traveling in the north and sent this picture from Víkurskarð, east of Akureyri, where about 60 cars are waiting for the road to open.
Many roads in East Iceland are impassable, while roads in the rest of the country are either icy or snow-covered.

Shoveling is underway in Húsavík after much snow in the last hours … extremely much snow in town.
Rescue teams and police are helping residents to travel.
