100 percent crop loss in some areas – Hail up to six inches deep
27 Jul 2016 – The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reported around 500 homes were damaged in the town of Pine Bluffs, about 40 miles east of Cheyenne.
Wind-driven hail to the size of golfballs damaged buildings and smashed windshields on many vehicles, including those traveling on Interstate 80.
Wyoming Governor Matt Mead ordered members of the Wyoming National Guard to assist with cleanup in the town of about 1,200 residents.
“In the Egbert area and south, it’s 100 percent crop loss,” Derek Walls with Frenchman Valley CoOp said, adding, “That was wheat ready to be cut.
Hailstones to the size of tennis balls were reported from a second supercell that moved through northeast Colorado.
