Australia – White stuff bucketing down

“While Canberra was hit by rain, hail and sleet on Saturday, the white stuff was bucketing down in the snowy mountains.”

Blizzard-like conditions were reported in higher areas. At least 8 inches (20 cm) of snowfall was reported at Thredbo and Perisher, with more snow was expected over night.

The wet, cold weather led to several road closures in the ACT, including Corin Dam Road from Woods Reserve, Bendora Dam Road, Mount Franklin Road and Angle Crossing.

The Corin Forest Mountain Recreation area will remain closed all weekend. ACT Parks and Conservation said weather conditions might require parks and reserves to be closed at short notice.
