Do people actually believe this kind of “science”?
New US research (supposedly) shows that Australia’s dry soil and mountainous coastline soaked up heavy rainfall in 2010 and 2011 and stopped it from flowing back into the ocean.
For an 18-month period beginning in 2010, the oceans mysteriously dropped by about seven millimetres, the study says.
US scientists say this was mainly caused by Australia’s uniquely dry soil and land surface.
While some of the water evaporated in the desert sun, much of it sank into the dry, granular soil of the Western Plateau or filled the Lake Eyre basin in the east.
I’ve written about this sea-level drop before. Now “scientists” are desperately tying to explain it.

I think a more logical explanation would be that, contrary to all political correctness, the missing moisture became locked up on land as ice. That’s how ice ages begin.
And that’s why sea levels were almost 400 feet lower during the last ice age than they are today.
As far as I’m concerned, this is simply one more example of the global warming con job.
