A powerful late-winter blast has already dumped up to 10 inches of heavy, wet snow on the Denver metropolitan area, The Weather Channel reported.

With the snow falling at the rate of more than an inch per hour at times, more than 600 flights in and out of Denver International Airport wire canceled.

Meanwhile, an overhead sign on Interstate 70 warned “Road closed to Kansas due to adverse weather.”

The fierce storm was moving east across the Plains into the Midwest, and blizzard conditions were possible in parts of Nebraska and northwest Kansas, The Weather Channel reported.

Meteorologists forecast snowfall of 3 to 6 inches in parts of Iowa, Minnesota, central Wisconsin and northern Michigan as well on Sunday.
