At least 80 people are confirmed to have died in flooding and landslides caused by hurricane Manuel and tropical storm Ingrid.
Rescuers are still searching for 58 people buried in a mudslide in Guerrero state. It is “very likely that these 58 missing people lost their lives,” said Guerrero state Governor Angel Aguirre.
After hitting southwestern Mexico on Sunday, Manuel is slowly moving along the coast and dumping torrential rain on Sinaloa state.
The resort town of Acapulco and its surrounding areas were worst hit by what was then still Tropical Storm Manuel. Landslides have cut off major highways to the area, leaving tens of thousands of people stranded.
In Acapulco, thousands have had to queue for food rations. Others have been fishing for carp in a pond at a local golf course.
Officials said it would take at least another day to reopen the main highways leading out of Acapulco.
In the more remote areas, tens of thousands are now living in shelters, and dependent on food dropped from helicopters.
