POTENT WINTER STORM SYSTEM
SHARPLY COLDER WEATHER AND SNOW WILL ARRIVE WITH AN ARCTIC COLD FRONT ON TUESDAY…WITH COLD WEATHER CONTINUING INTO THIS WEEKEND. FROM WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY…HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE SINGLE DIGITS AND LOW TEENS WITH OVERNIGHT LOWS BELOW ZERO. THERE MAY BE SOME MODERATION OVER THE WEEKEND BUT TEMPERATURES SHOULD STAY WELL BELOW FREEZING.
THE NEXT WEEK MAY BE THE COLDEST WEEK IN THE LAST 15 YEARS.
THE MAIN PERIOD OF SNOW WILL BEGIN IN THE MOUNTAINS EARLY TUESDAY…AND ON THE PLAINS LATER IN THE AFTERNOON OR EARLY EVENING. THE SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DIMINISH LATE WEDNESDAY.
CURRENT ESTIMATES OF SNOWFALL FOR THIS PERIOD IS FROM 1 TO 2 FEET IN THE MOUNTAINS…WITH 3 TO 8 INCHES ON THE PLAINS. THERE MAY BE LOCALIZED AREAS OF HEAVIER SNOWFALL. ADDITIONAL SNOW IS POSSIBLE AFTER WEDNESDAY…BUT ANY SNOWFALL LATER IN THE WEEK WOULD BE LIGHT.

Tuesday – Snow. Chance of precipitation 80%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.
