In Michigan alone, 102,000 people were still without power as of 2 p.m. ET Thursday. Consumers Energy said between 50,000 and 60,000 would not have their power restored until Saturday.
Across the border, 54,000 customers in Toronto were still off the grid on Thursday
In Maine, where 106,000 customers had been at one time without electricity, more than 31,000 still remained without power as of 2 p.m.
In Vermont and New York, where more than 50,000 remained in the dark, a small number of customers were still waiting to be reconnected.
Bangor Hydro Electric in Maine said that some of its 11,000 outages could be waiting for power until at least Friday. Others might have to wait nearly a week.
Authorities blame the storm for 27 deaths; 17 in the U.S. and 10 in Canada.
