Bitterly cold Arctic air centered over the western prairies resulted in a few record low temperatures this weekend.
ALBERTA
The following Alberta locations set new record low temperatures for Saturday March 1:
Coronation – New record of -39.0C (-38.2F) – Old record of -36.1C (-33.0F) set in 2011
Lethbridge – New record of -32.2C (-26.0F) – Old record of -29.7C (-21.5F) set in 1989
Waterton Park – New record of -31.7C (-25.1F) – Old record of -27.9C (-18.2F) set in 2002
The following Alberta locations set new record low temperatures for Sunday March 2:
Edmonton International Airport – New record of -35.1C (-31.2F) – Old record of -34.4C (-29.9F) set in 1972
Coronation – New record of -39.8C (-39.6F) – Old record of -35.6C (-32.1F) set in 1972
Sundre – New record of -35.2C (-31.4F) – Old record of -34.5C (-30.1F) set in 1989
Many stations also achieved near record low temperatures.

Rosetown -38.0C (-36.4F), old record is -33.3C (-27.9F) set in 1960.
Swift Current -35.9C (-32.6F), old record is -34.4C (-29.9F) set in 1972.

In addition, a couple of locations were close.
Leader -38.3C (-36.9F), record is -38.9C (-38.0F) set in 1972.
Maple Creek -31.9C (-25.4F), record is -33.3C (-27.9F) set in 1962.
