“Low temperatures will threaten all-time March records Tuesday morning,” says NBC News. “The 4 degrees in Baltimore already broke a hundred-year-old mark, and other Mid-Atlantic cities face similar chills.

“Overnight we’ve seen an all-time March cold record in Atlantic City and parts of New Jersey where they’ve been down to 2 degrees,” said the Weather Channel’s Kevin Roth. “Dulles International Airport outside of Washington, D.C., is down to zero this morning.”

The frigid storm that swooped in from the West on Monday downed power lines, snarled travel from the Mississippi Valley up the Atlantic Coast, and forced cancellation of nearly 3,100 flights.

Meanwhile, North Texas was coping with another icy blast that knocked out power to more than 40,000 customers.
