Tuesday morning, March 4, featured below zero temperatures over a widespread area of Vermont, New York and New Hampshire.
The mercury dipped to -27 in Sutton and Canaan in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, and -24 in Lake Placid, NY. Even Burlington touched -7.
Through March 4, Burlington had logged 17 days with below zero temperatures. Last year just 8 days slipped below zero.
The trend is similar in Lebanon, NH. This year featured 21 below zero days as of March 4, with just 8 last year.
In Saranac Lake, always a cold spot, 45 days had fallen below zero this year compared to 26 last.
