Around 2000 tourists were stranded due to a sudden snowfall while coming back to Gangtok. Troops of the Black Cat Division of the Indian Army stationed nearby pushed 250 civilian vehicles in which the tourists were riding all the way across the steep slopes near Thegu village, near Nathula, in north Sikkim.

As the weather deteriorated, and despite the heavy snowfall and hailstones, the troops cleared all 250 vehicles by 7 in the evening on Saturday.

More than 3000 tourists visit Tsomgo Lake and Nathula to enjoy the snow every day.

Gangtok is the capital and the largest town of the Indian state of Sikkim, according to Wikipedia. Gangtok is located in the eastern Himalayan range, at an altitude of 1,650 m (5,410 ft).
