Atlanta and Macon previous records set more than 80 years ago.
National Weather Service forecasters say today’s low of 60 degrees in Atlanta broke the previous record of 61 degrees set in 1936.
Macon hit a low of 61 degrees around 5 a.m. Wednesday, breaking a previous record low of 62 degrees set in 1920.
Temperatures fell even lower in the north Georgia mountains, dropping to 48 degrees shortly after 5 a.m. in Union County.
