11 Feb 2016 – Heavy snowfall forced authorities to suspend traffic on the national highway connecting the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country this afternoon.
The Srinagar-Leh national highway connecting Ladakh region with Kashmir and historic Mughal road remained closed. Dozens of other roads to far flung and remote areas also were closed due to snowfall.
It was snowing heavily and there were a few feet of snow on the highway at several places, a traffic police official told UNI.
He said there was about one feet of snow at Jawahar tunnel and half a feet at Patnitop during the night.
